On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August, we settled down with a group of enthusiastic Gamma photographers in the beautiful Vagevuurbos in Wingene for a very special event: the Festival of Nature.
At the invitation of Natuurpunt (section De Torenvalk), we were warmly welcomed at the meeting point on Beernemsteenweg. Our mission: to capture the nature management works in images. The biggest challenge was to find balance in the frame, not only to capture the impressive four-legged creatures but also to combine the dynamics of about fifty active volunteers with the serene calm of the forest.
On Sunday, the volunteers were joined by an impressive draft horse to haul away pruning waste. We tried to capture both the raw muscle power and authentic craftsmanship, as well as the hard work, pruning, and clearing efforts of the crew as purely as possible.
It turned out to be a successful weekend full of beautiful reportage images, action, and above all, a lot of camaraderie.
